Center for Advanced Visual Studies special collection

So this week I started migrating the Center for Advanced Visual Studies special collection finding aid from PDF form to ArchivesSpace. Holy moly! This is a big job. I haven’t had such a large AS task yet in any of my positions, so it feels like a big deal. The PDF is ninety-six pages long and covers 810 linear feet of materials. WOW! So I’ve spent twelve hours on it so far and I’m nowhere near halfway done. I’m going to keep plugging away!

LOC Authorities

This week I went back to the EMS finding aid to go over the subjects, related names, and other topic headings to connect this collection to others with the same topics. Originally I didn’t check everything on the Library of Congress authorities webpage (which I have used SO many times since I started school), because there were over 100 names on the list, but my graduate school advisor thought it would be good experience to check everything…

Creating a Draft

Today I started my WordPress draft for the Sky Art virtual exhibit. It’s taking longer than I thought it would, just because I’m not slapping up images and calling it a day. I’m trying to think about the placement of the images and text, as well as quotes from Piene himself. It’s really fun and I’ve learned SO much about this section of the art world, especially avant-garde pieces. I’d say that Piene’s work is definitely modern art that I can get behind…
